After the Unthinkable is a compassionate, supportive space for adults grieving the death of a loved one to suicide. This kind of loss carries unique layers of shock, trauma, questions, and isolation. You do not have to navigate it alone.
The group is offered in an 11-session series, with a planned break between each series before it begins again. When a new series resumes, you are welcome to continue attending, whether you have participated before or are joining for the first time.
There is an active 11-session series in progress and the next series’ date is to be determined.
How the Group Works
- Sessions are drop-in, meaning you are not required to attend every session.
- That said, consistency is strongly encouraged, as returning regularly helps build trust, continuity, and deeper support within the group.
- Each session blends open discussion, shared reflection, and gentle structure to help participants make sense of their grief at their own pace.
Educational Framework
While the group is not clinical therapy, it is facilitated by a certified grief coach and does include a light educational foundation informed by the work of Dr. Alan Wolfelt, particularly focusing on his 10 Essential Touchstones of Mourning from his book, Understanding Your Suicide Grief.
This framework helps normalize the experience of suicide grief and offers language for emotions, reactions, and needs that many survivors struggle to name.
A Place to Be as You Are
After the Unthinkable is not about fixing grief or moving on. It is about:
- Being witnessed
- Learning what is normal in suicide grief
- Connecting with others who truly understand
- Finding steadier footing after a life-altering loss
You are welcome to attend when you are ready, return when you need support again, and continue across series as your grief unfolds.
Compatibility Call Required
Before attending your first session, a one-hour Compatibility Call is required.
This conversation allows us to:
- Ensure the group is a good fit for your needs
- Answer questions about the structure and expectations
- Create a sense of safety and readiness before joining the group space
